Snapchat Introduces Group Streaks and Infinite Retention to Enhance Chats
Snapchat, the popular app known for its disappearing messages, is rolling out two highly requested features—Infinite Retention and Group Streaks—giving users more control over their conversations and Streaks.
Infinite Retention: Save Chats Without Expiry
Traditionally, Snapchat stood out for its self-destructing messages, but users often asked for a way to keep certain conversations for longer. Responding to this demand, the platform has launched Infinite Retention, a feature that allows chats to stay saved indefinitely.
With this update, you can now choose to preserve your chat history just like on traditional messaging apps. Turning on Infinite Retention is simple—just toggle the setting for each conversation. When activated, the other participant will receive a notification and can opt out if they prefer. This means you can save chats with close friends while keeping casual conversations temporary.
Group Streaks: Build Streaks Together
Alongside Infinite Retention, Snapchat is introducing Group Streaks, making it easier for friends to maintain their Snap Streaks collectively. Instead of relying on one-on-one exchanges, multiple participants can contribute to a single group Streak by sharing a daily photo or video Snap.
The new feature also offers a safety net: if a Group Streak accidentally ends, users have a week to restore it. This update encourages more interactive and collaborative engagement among friend groups.
Why This Matters
By adding Infinite Retention and Group Streaks, Snapchat is blending its signature disappearing messages with more flexible communication options. The changes cater to users who value both privacy and long-term connections, making the app more versatile and user-friendly.
